imMersive Aminal

2023; multi-media installation; 36×18′ [fabric curtain wall]

Immersive Aminal was a temporary installation held in the Linderman Library from April 16-23rd, 2023. The piece was held in the library’s iconic rotunda space, built in 1878. Immersive Aminal became the first student art installation held in the rotunda since its founding. It required a 36×18′ piece of fabric mounted across two stories of the interior space and three 4K projectors to fill the entire screen. The animation depicts a loop of an Aminal and his companion walking through the Aminal Planet. A speaker from the third-floor balcony above transmitted a nature soundscape recorded from the forest nearby the library. The curtain wall screen curved in junction with the architecture of the building almost an entire 180 degrees so that viewers could feel truly immersed in the animated universe. Though the lights in the rotunda were temporarily turned off, the light emitted from the projection and the calming audio-scape maintained a functional reading and studying environment for students.

giGA samo

2023; sewn vinyl laminated polyester fabric; 35x8x12′

Giga Samo is a 35′ inflatable of an Aminal character named “Samo”. The inflatable was temporarily installed on top of the Linderman Library as an extension of the Immersive Aminal exhibition installed inside the library’s rotunda. The inflatable was on display for two weeks around the exhibition that took place in April 2023.

Aminal Pop-up 2023

2023; Bethlehem, PA

In May 2023 I held the second annual Aminal Pop-Up Shop. The event is a way of both selling and displaying my artwork as well as bringing the community together. There is clothing for sale, a feature of my other artwork, a live music performance, and a community canvas in which those who attend are able to contribute paint to a 6×9′ drop cloth.

Aminal treE

2022; plaster, chicken wire, recycled fabric; 30x58x27” [fig. 1], 33x40x24” [fig. 2], 22x14x12” [fig. 3]

Aminal Tree is a culmination of three sculptures that formerly made up a temporary installation on Lehigh University’s campus for two weeks in November of 2022. Each Aminal figure can be found uniquely interacting with an ordinary tree found on campus. The piece acts as a statement on the fleeting connection between humans and nature.

the Fl@v BubBle

2022; multi-media performance; 6.5′ bubble

Flav is a fictitious company that exists only on Aminal Planet. It manufactures and sells a canned, artificial, and addictive drink by the name of Flav Juice. The Flav brand promotes instant and temporary happiness as a marketing strategy. With my performance of The Flav Bubble, I mock and ridicule the materialistic lens that dominates our modern society. The performances took place on Lehigh University’s campus and lasted between 1-2 hours each. There were no permissions approved for this artwork, so for each performance I wore Flav factory worker coveralls as a disguise to imitate an actual company exposition that Lehigh University had given approval to. A 360 degree camera streamed my performance from the inside of the bubble to a monitor on the outside so that viewers would be able to see what was happening. On the inside, I attempted to brainwash myself by drinking only cans of Flav Juice (repackaged Mt. Dew) and watching a looping sequence of promotional Flav Juice ads. A second monitor on the outside played the same sequence of advertisements simultaneously.

Clay Aminal army

2022; clay; 6-8×4-6×2-3″ [each]

More than 60 unique clay figurines make up this clay Aminal army. They were initially installed in the form of one large cluster overlooking a highly trafficked staircase in Building C of Lehigh University’s campus. After a two-week display, the figures were individually scattered about the same building. Each one was placed permanently among the walls, windows, doors, lights, and electrical work–hidden in plain sight among the crevices of the building.

Lost

2022; stucco, concrete, rebar, chicken wire, glass; 72x53x20″ [fig. 1], 68x46x19″ [fig. 2]

LOST is a permanent sculpture installed in the Sculpture Enclave on Lehigh University’s campus. The two life-size Aminal figures are positioned with their back to each other. Each is looking and reaching out in opposite directions as if to be searching for one another—or something—lost in the wrong direction. The armatures were welded together and transported onsite for the remainder of the sculpture to be constructed using stucco aggregate mixed with the nearby creek water. The eyes are handmade worked glass from the local glass studio. To respect the site’s mystique and history, permission to install was granted from the Enclave’s founder, Norman Girardot.

Aminal Clothing

2019-present; hand-painted upcycled clothing

In the summer of 2019, I started a streetwear clothing brand made up of pieces printed digitally and screen printed. By the end of the same year, I began experimenting with applying the fabric ink with a brush. Each piece since then is a 1 of 1 item, and I’ve more recently moved to painting on strictly upcycled apparel. Since the beginning of 2021 I have hand painted on 300+ unique articles of clothing.
